October 25, 2023, Hon. Gerry Byrne, Minister of Immigration, Population Growth and Skills of Newfoundland and Labrador, issued a statement announcing the population growth in the province by 12,000 people in two and a half years. The province’s school enrollment has increased for the first time since the 1970s. 2022 was a landmark year with 3,400 new Permanent Residents, and the province is on track to exceed the target of 5,100 immigrants by 2026. Newfoundland and Labrador’s Ukrainian initiative is globally recognized, with 3,238 Ukrainians now calling the province home.
