Quebec is investing $7 million over five years to recruit foreign early childhood educators due to a shortage of people in the province for the job. In addition, the province will provide financial support to participants of the Journees Quebec missions, which have been considered too expensive for many employers. Under the new funding, participants, including virtual mission participants, can receive a refund of up to 75% of their costs. The investment will also cover up to 50% of Labour Market Impact Assessments (LMIA) for up to five LMIAs per participant. Additionally, Quebec plans to offer settlement services and issue proposals to support recruiting foreign early childhood educators.
