On June 20, 2023, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) Sean Fraser issued a statement on World Refugee Day, recognizing refugees’ strength and courage. Canada has a proud history of resettling vulnerable people, welcoming over 47,500 refugees from over 80 countries in 2022. The Government of Canada remains committed to resettling between 72,000 and 76,000 refugees annually through various programs and provides economic immigration opportunities for skilled refugees through the Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot. Additionally, Canada works to improve conditions in countries like Venezuela and promotes quality education and lifelong learning for children and youth in conflict-affected areas through the Together for Learning campaign.
