The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador will provide over $11 million to help nearly 2,800 Ukrainians settle in the province. This funding includes housing support, a new initiative called Ukraine Job Connect that helps employers hire Ukrainians, and access to English classes. In addition, the homestay hosting program offers approved families $1,000 per month for up to five months. Ukrainians can also receive up to $6,000 to help with moving expenses. The government also offers a $3 million fund for innovative housing projects, such as repurposing vacant property and co-housing initiatives. Employment services are also available, including a 42-week wage subsidy for eligible employers and training for jobs in various sectors.
