In a recent announcement, Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), provided an update on the ongoing IRCC strike. He emphasized that this strike would severely impact processing times and cause setbacks in dealing with backlogs. The strike will affect many services, including citizenship events, consular passport and citizenship services, access to information and privacy (ATIP), applying for an extension of your stay in Canada, grants services, immigration appointments, passport services application processing, etc. As the strike will significantly reduce IRCC’s capacity, applicants may expect delays in application processing.
