Since June 2022, Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has transferred more than 2,840 asylum seekers to Niagara Falls. These individuals were shuttled from Quebec and spread across 1,400 different hotel rooms in the city. Thousands of asylum seekers placed in a tourist town that lacks the necessary resources for their integration result in an unprecedented migration crisis as the tourism season starts in the city. Niagara Falls hotels cannot support the newcomers and want them removed to accommodate summer tourists.
