The recent Canadian census data reveals that Prince Edward Island is experiencing a steady influx of immigrants and temporary residents, helping employers deal with increasing labour shortages. According to Statistics Canada, PEI experienced an unprecedented influx of settlers in the most recent five-year period, with more than three times as many people settling on the Island compared to earlier figures. A staggering 4,860 immigrants have relocated to the province in the last five years – an impressive figure that is more than three times greater settling in the province in 2015.
