Ottawa to ease vaccine requirements and make ArriveCan optional

The Canadian Government is planning to stop requiring mandatory COVID-19 vaccinations at its borders as of September 30, 2022. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau still needs to approve the change, but the government would likely drop the requirement and end the random COVID-19 testing at airports. Cabinet ministers have confirmed that they are evaluating alternatives and that discussions are taking place within the government about whether or not to keep the travel restrictions in place. On June 29, 2022, the government last expanded public health measures at borders and claimed that 95 percent of land and air passengers were using the app at the time.
