On June 9, 2022, the Government of Canada introduced a new update for specific Quebec Selection Certificate (CSQ) holders currently in Quebec [R205(a) – A75]. New instructions clarify that applicants cannot apply for the labour market impact assessment (LMIA) exempt work permit category under the International Mobility Program at a port of entry being physically in Canada as a temporary resident. All CSQ holders have to apply for a work permit after entering Canada while holding authority to work. Since applications cannot be submitted at a port of entry, the new instructions apply only to IRCC employees.
