On June 9, 2022, the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador announced that the province will accept more Ukrainian nationals. Additional 166 Ukrainians will depart Warsaw, Poland and arrive in St. John’s on Tuesday, June 14. Most Ukrainian newcomers will be taken to pre-arranged housing in St. John’s once they arrive to rest and begin acclimatizing to their new environment, while others will go on to stay with relatives and friends across the province. The arrival will be assisted by the Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism’s Ukrainian Family Support Desk, which has been providing pre-arrival assistance.
