On January 26, 2021, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stated his government can implement more travel restrictions.
Trudeau urged Canadians to cancel any travel plans. At the same time, he emphasized that despite effective measures to combat the spread of coronavirus infections, more measures may be required.
Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland also told stronger rules on the border are needed to further discourage non-essential travels.
Immigration experts are concerned as the tougher measure may restrict foreign workers and international students to come to Canada.
