Manitoba invites 193 skilled worker candidates in the latest draw to Apply through its skilled worker streams in 2019.
Manitoba invited 194 immigration candidates to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence in a draw held October 10.
Those invited had a profile registered under Manitoba’s Skilled Worker in Manitoba, Skilled Worker Overseas, or International Education Stream.
Manitoba has now issued 6,574 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) this year to immigration candidates in these pathways.
Express Entry
Of the 193 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) issued October 10, 24 went to candidates with a valid profile in the federal Express Entry system.
Candidates who qualify for the Express Entry pool are ranked based on a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score that considers human capital factors such as age, work experience, education, and language ability.
The highest-scoring candidates are invited to apply for Canadian permanent residence through regular draws from the Express Entry pool.
Those who receive a provincial nomination are awarded an additional 600 CRS points and are effectively guaranteed an invitation to apply from Immigration, Refugee, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
To be considered for a provincial nomination from Manitoba, Express Entry candidates must have eligible work experience in one of Manitoba’s in-demand occupations, among other requirements, and submit a separate expression of interest with the MPNP.
Skilled Worker in Manitoba
A total of 147 LAAs went to candidates with an EOI in Manitoba’s Skilled Worker in Manitoba Category, which provides a pathway to permanent residence for eligible temporary foreign workers in the province and international graduates of Manitoba post-secondary educational institutions.
In order to be considered, candidates must be working in Manitoba and have a full-time, permanent job offer from their employer, among other criteria.
Skilled worker EOIs are given a score out of 1,000 and the highest-ranked are issued LAAs.
The lowest-ranked Skilled Worker in Manitoba candidate selected in the October 10 draw had a score of 567.
Skilled Worker Overseas
Another 22 LAAs went to candidates in the Skilled Worker Overseas Category.
Candidates selected under this category were invited directly through a Strategic Recruitment Initiative, which can include overseas recruitment missions organized by the MPNP, often in association with Manitoba employers.
Candidates for this stream are also ranked according to Manitoba’s EOI scoring system.
Skilled Worker Overseas candidates needed a score of 718 and above to be eligible for an LAA in the October 10 EOI draw.
International Education Stream
Manitoba graduates with certain in-demand skills may be invited under the International Education Stream.
This stream includes three sub-categories: Career Employment Pathway, Graduate Internship Pathway, and the Student Entrepreneur Pathway.
The MPNP sent out 24 LAAs to International Education Stream candidates in last week’s draw.
No EOI minimum score was given.
