Brantford, Ontario continues as the number one best job market in Canada, according to the latest BMO Labour Market Report Card.
Major cities moved into the top 10 for the third quarter of 2019, with six of Canada’s 10 provinces represented in the list.
“The top of our city ranking is looking diverse, but bigger cities from each region are moving to the top. For example, Ottawa, Calgary, Halifax, Toronto and Vancouver all sit in the top-11,” says Robert Kavcic, a BMO Director and Senior Economist.
Brantford comes out on top for its mammoth employment increase of 17.3 percent in the last year. The Ontario city is an important benefactor of people looking to move out of the Greater Toronto Area to look for more affordable living.
The BMO report comes amid a healthy period for Canada jobs.
Employment rose by 110,600 in the third quarter, building on significant gains in the last year.
“The spread between provincial jobless rates also remains historically narrow, suggesting more uniform conditions than we’ve been used to,” Kavcic writes.
