On January 6, 2023, Statistics Canada published Labour Force Survey for December 2022, revealing a positive shift in the Canadian job market, with 104,000 new jobs. There was a slight decline in the unemployment rate, lowering to 5.0%, just below the recent historic low of 4.9% observed in June and July! In December, employment rose in Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Saskatchewan, meanwhile remaining relatively steady in the other provinces.
