Newfoundland and Labrador will increase the minimum wage in the province

On May 26, 2022, Newfoundland and Labrador released the final report of the Minimum Wage Review Committee. Effective October 1, 2022, the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador will increase the minimum wage by 50 cents, bringing it to $13.70 per hour. According to Bernard Davis, Minister Responsible for Labour, the province plans to increase the minimum wage to 14.50 on April 1, 2023, and on October 1, 2023, to $15.00 per hour. The province will also create a one-year Transitional Support Program for Smaller Employers to provide financial support for employers with 20 or fewer employees.
