Jean Boulet will no longer be Immigration Minister after the provincial elections in Quebec

Regardless of the outcome of Quebec’s general election, the province’s immigration minister Jean Boulet will be departing his position. Boulet had come under fire recently for his comments on the eve of election day when he argued during a debate that “80 percent of immigrants go to Montreal, do not work, do not speak French, or do not adhere to Quebec society’s values.” The provincial immigration minister’s comments later drew an immediate backlash from his political opponents, the mayor of Montreal, and immigration advocates
