IRCC issued a statement for International Women’s Day

On March 8, 2023, Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), issued a statement on International Women’s Day, supporting the full and equal participation of all women and girls in Canadian society. Over the last two years, the Government has invested $15 million in Racialized Newcomer Women Pilot program to empower racialized newcomer women with access to essential support services that will assist them in their journey toward gaining employment. 2022 Statistics Canada data reveals that 4,200,630 immigrant women were actively employed in the labour market, having an 83% participation rate in the national workforce. Of these numbers, 2.9 million belonged to visible minority groups, while 1.3 million did not identify as a part of any visible minority group.
