An accumulation of immigration cases has sparked a dramatic surge in legal action against the Federal Government

The federal government is grappling with many lawsuits concerning its backlogged immigration applications, which has caused immense delays in processing and led to significant dissatisfaction for those stuck waiting for years for an answer. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada has been the subject of an incredible 709 mandamus applications in federal court since April 2022 – a sharp rise compared to last year’s figures.
