Alberta to expand funding to help Ukrainian newcomers

The Government of Alberta will allocate $27.3 million to help Ukrainian evacuees, providing them with settlement assistance, language courses, housing, and financial resources. If Budget 2023 passes, Alberta’s Ministry of Trade, Immigration and Multiculturalism will allocate $7 million for language and settlement services over three years. Moreover, the Ministry of Seniors, Community and Social Services will provide $20.3 million to ensure Ukrainian evacuees access housing support and financial assistance. So far, 21,600 Ukrainian nationals have arrived in Alberta within the last year.
